Buy from companies where you can trace your seed dollars.

If you aren’t sure, ask: Where do your seeds come from? Do you buy from companies that directly or indirectly support biotech? Do you know your supplier’s sources?

Trustworthy examples: Hudson Valley Seed Company (formerly the Hudson Valley Seed Library) and Seed Savers Exchange.

More seed companies worth a look:

Grow Organic: Certified organic seed garlic, cover crop seed, organic fertilizers and garden tools.
SeedsNow: Untreated, non-GMO seeds in small, affordable packets, great for beginners and small gardens. Not everything is certified organic, so check each listing.
Territorial Seed Company: Family owned since 1979, with an organic seed line and fall garlic.
